What is Carbon Neutrality?
Carbon Neutrality is a new concept generating a lot of interest. Being Carbon Neutral entails reducing and offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions created by energy consumption to reduce the impact on the environment. As federal legislation to limit a company's green house gas emissions is under consideration, the business community must begin to understand how current business practices will be affected. It will be imperative to understand the current carbon footprint status and the means to reduce it.
A company's direct emissions output and supply chain of vendors are the primary focus in reducing the carbon footprint. Direct output includes such items as power and water consumption, paper usage and business travel. It is also important to analyze indirect output such as printing sources, courier and mailing services, equipment sources, and materials used in the built environment. All aspects of the business affect the carbon footprint.
Developing a strategic plan to reduce carbon emissions, and offset what cannot be eliminated, will be vital to a company's ability to conduct business. Sustainable Workplace shows clients how to reduce their carbon footprint and guides them in developing new environmentally friendly business strategies.
